About Me

I have been taking photographs ever since I was 10 years old, when I pestered my dad to lend me his Halina 35x camera, as I was going on a school’s field trip to Leeson House, Dorset.  Much to my surprise they all came out and I didn’t know what I was really doing. I just took my dads advice and kept the camera on 1/125 sec at F8, so I did. They were even better than the teacher’s who took us and they were exhibited on the school’s notice board. – So I presume that this was my first exhibition, even though I did not know it at the time, well I was only 10 at the time!.

Ever since that trip, I was hooked on photography. I taught myself most of the things I know to day by reading books, magazines, using lots of film on a trail and error basis, as well as talking to anyone who would talk photography with me.

When I moved to London in 1997 and I joined London Independent Photography, my photography was being perused on a purely personal basis before then. However being round other photographers, who have had exhibitions and work being published, it encouraged me to improve my photography and develop a style. My photography is now at a level that is good enough for exhibitions and to be published in magazines.

Over the past few years my photography has concentrated on Landscapes both Rural and Urban styles.

Being an active member of London Independent Photography, this has allowed me to meet other like minded photographers and exhibit my work for the first time – which was a thrill to see other people looking at my work and give me some positive feedback of the photography.

I have also been part of a major LIP project called “Countdown 2000” which photographed London during 1999 with a photographer taking a photograph every day during the year, and exhibiting them on the Internet each day during 2000.  The project was fortunate enough to secure a National Lottery grant under the awards for all scheme, which enabled us to hold a major exhibition at the Oxo Gallery in London, where I had 2 images in this exhibition of 61 images spread over 32 photographers. We had over 3000 visitors to this exhibition over a 12-day period.

From this exhibition a magazine company has approached me, as they want to use 4 of my images. These will be published in the “London Eye” magazine that came out in March 2001.

With regards to sailing photography I will be taking this to the water and not be land based.   So there are new water sports & sailing  galleries which have now been uploaded and will be updated regularly with new images.

I use the following formats 35mm and digital cameras (Nikon D100) and use almost exclusively Fuji Velvia film for most of my work, but will use other films / techniques as the needs arise on various projects.

I now have started to be digital photographer using a Nikon D100 with brilliant results.  Just ask to see a sample print.

If you which to discuss a project or use my photographs in a publication, please contact me via e-mail or on my mobile to start friendly discussions I don't bite and am willing to discuss any project you might have in mind - where ever in the world - have camera will travel!
